CryoSentry, a spin-off of GSI – Gesellschaft für Systementwicklung und Instrumentierung mbH, is an autonomous, air-deployable system that uses intelligent melting probes to penetrate Arctic sea ice independently. It establishes a permanent underwater sonar sensor network in previously inaccessible blind spots, enabling continuous monitoring and early detection of underwater activity beneath multi-year ice, and can serve as an ad-hoc network to support communication and navigation of own forces under the ice.
